Orbit was founded in 1953 by Aaron Schur in The Bronx, NY. Originally set up as a commission dye house, the company grew to being a top supplier of warp knit fabrics. With a commitment to our values and to family legacy, Aaron’s grandson, Marc Schur, took over the business in 2000.
After running Orbit for a number of years, Marc ascertained that the only way to provide his customers with the best price, delivery schedules, quality, and level of customization was to have complete control of all facets of production. In 2009 he entered into a strategic partnership that enabled us to do just that.
Sourcing yarn from around the world, Orbit has its own warping, knitting, dyeing, and finishing at its state-of-the-art facility in historic Gloversville, NY. Having all of our production under one roof allows us to provide all of the services of a large textile company while still being able to react nimbly and swiftly to our customers changing needs.
